The SLAPP BACK Fund invites you to support its fundraising campaign for the legal defence of Russian nationals who have faced unlawful persecution for participating in anti-war protests in Serbia during 2022 and 2023.

Today, we urgently need your help for Anton Bobryshev.

On 4 June 2023, the last birthday of Alexei of Navalny before he was brutally murdered, Anton organised a protest to support Alexei in Pancevo. Around 20 people attended the event, which was held without incident — just like a similar gathering that took place on the same day in Belgrade. Despite this, in September 2024, Serbian authorities denied Anton an extension of his temporary residence permit, claiming he was an “unacceptable security risk.”

This decision is deeply unjust. Serbia’s Constitution guarantees freedom of expression and assembly to all — including foreign nationals. Moreover, the European Court of Human Rights prohibits deportation decisions based on vague claims of national security threats without clearly explaining what those threats are. Despite these protections, Anton’s appeal to the head of Serbian police was rejected, and he has now been ordered to leave Serbia within 30 days.

Anton has lived in Serbia for over a decade. He has no other home to turn to and must now initiate legal proceedings to challenge these decisions.

To cover the first phase of these proceedings — filing an administrative lawsuit request to postpone the deportation order — we must raise 90,000 dinars (as per current attorney fees). The total cost of the full administrative court proceedings is estimated at approximately 1,500 euros.

Anton cannot cover these amounts alone and counts on your solidarity.
