When Serbian and Ukrainian Civil Societies Meet

When Serbian and Ukrainian Civil Societies Meet

Kick-off meeting and working lunch that we held on October 24th at the American Corner in order to  present future networking events organized under the project Liberté Egalité Solidarité aimed at fostering collaboration between the CSO sectors in Serbia and Ukraine, was a huge success, gathering representatives from more than 15 most relevant CSOs in Serbia as well as two representatives from the American House in Kyiv. Since this first gathering greatly exceeded our expectations and further demonstrated a strong need for cooperation, which was already evident by research KROKODIL conducted throughout 2023, our intention is that the next step involves establishing a platform that would facilitate such cooperation in the long term and in that way not only strengthen the civil sectors of both nations but also enhance their ability to manage complex socio-political challenges collectively while promoting shared values and mutual understanding. Funding from various donors is essential for the successful execution of such an endeavor and its long-term impact, ensuring the necessary resources are available to build and sustain these vital partnerships, and therefore we would be very grateful for any additional support.

The project Liberté Egalité Solidarité is supported by the Embassy of Canada to Serbia.

It aims to unite CSOs from Serbia and Ukraine in addressing the complex interplay of public interest advocacy within Serbia’s unique geopolitical context. This context includes the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Serbia’s relationship with Russia, and the influence of Russian soft power—elements that challenge the values and actions of many CSOs in the region.
