PRESENTATION OF SIMON STRANGER AT THE KROKODIL CENTER

PRESENTATION OF SIMON STRANGER AT THE KROKODIL CENTER

On Friday, November 29, in the warm atmosphere of the KROKODIL Center, a public event was held with Norwegian author Simon Stranger, the 138th guest of the KROKODIL Writers-in-Residence program. At the very beginning, Milena Berić, KROKODIL’s Executive Director, welcomed the audience and introduced Simon. In his opening remarks, Stranger shared exciting news – his book will soon be published in Serbia!

Following the introduction, an audio-visual presentation took place, through which Stranger offered insights into his literary work and his most renowned novel, The Encyclopedia of Light and Darkness. The audience listened intently to the deeply moving story of Simon’s family and the themes of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, which are central to this award-winning novel.

After the presentation, a conversation with Stranger was moderated by Marko Marić. Together, they explored Simon’s literary themes, sources of inspiration, and his creative process. Stranger’s openness and approachable nature brought him even closer to the audience, and the discussion continued with questions from attendees, all of which Simon was eager to answer.

The evening with Simon Stranger left a profound impression on the audience, offering them the chance to connect with this extraordinary author and delve deeper into the universal messages his texts convey.

Simon Stranger’s residency at the KROKODIL Writers-in-Residence program was supported by the Norwegian Embassy and NORLA.
