Ukraine at the Belgrade International Book Fair

From October 19 to 27, Ukraine will participate in the Belgrade International Book Fair for the first time since 2018.

At the Embassy of Ukraine’s stand, under the slogan “The Fragility of Existence,” books from Ukrainian publishers, works by foreign authors about Ukraine, as well as translations of Ukrainian authors into Serbian, will be presented.

A series of events will be organized during the Fair, featuring writers and translators from Ukraine, Serbia, and other regional countries, with the help and support of the KROKODIL Association:

October 20, 16:00−16:50 in the “IVO ANDRIĆ” hall – Presentation of the collection “Marked: An Anthological Selection of 20th Century Ukrainian Poetry.” Organized by Rašić Literary Workshop. Participants: Ljudmila Popović, Leh Končak, Mila Gavrilović, Zoran Stefanović.

October 22, 15:00−15:50 in the “VASKO POPA” hall – Presentation of the book “Carbide” by Andrij Ljubka, published by Arhipelag. Participants: Gojko Božović and Marko Grabež.

October 23, 16:00−16:50 in the “BORISLAV PEKIĆ” hall – Panel discussion “Ukraine, Serbia, and the Countries of Our Region – Are We Translating/Publishing, and Why Not?” Participants: Aleksandar Šurbatović, Milena Ivanović, Mišo Nejasmić, Julija Dragojlović.

October 24, 14:00−14:50 in the “VASKO POPA” hall – Presentation of the books “Russians and Ukrainians – Unequal Brothers” by Andreas Kapeler and “Vignettes from Ukraine” by Mitja Velikonja. Organized by 20th Century Library. Participants: Milan Subotić and Vladimir Arsenić.

October 25, 15:00−15:50 in the “BORISLAV PEKIĆ” hall – Presentation of the books “My Grandfather Danced Better than Everyone” and “Happy Naked People” by Katerina Babkina, published by Blum Publishing. Participants: Katerina Babkina, Aleksandar Šurbatović, Milenko Jergović, Ivan Milenković, Isidora Minić.

October 26, 14:00−14:50 in the “BORISLAV PEKIĆ” hall – Presentation of “Diary Notes from Ukraine” by Vladimir Arsenijević, organized by the KROKODIL Association. Participants: Maja Vuković Biserko and Branislav Trifunović.
