Palestinian Day at the KROKODIL Center

Palestinian Day at the KROKODIL Center

We invite you to join us on Saturday, September 21st, at the KROKODIL Center for a special event dedicated to the rich Palestinian culture, motivated by the tragic fate of Palestinians subjected to systematic destruction during the Israeli invasion and bombing of the Gaza Strip in the war between Israel and Hamas. The purpose of this all-day program is to support the Palestinian Al Najar family, whom we helped escape from Gaza and who, with your and our support, are currently residing in Serbia. This is also an opportunity to become familiar with Palestinian poetry, art, cuisine, and traditions.

We remind you that, thanks to your support, KROKODIL Association has managed to provide assistance and care for this large Palestinian family, who has been in Serbia since December of last year.

Your presence and participation will mean a great deal, as all proceeds will be directly forwarded to the Al Najar family, whose three generations face significant challenges in exile.

Tickets for this unique charity event, priced at 500 dinars, can be purchased at the KROKODIL Center on weekdays from 12 PM to 8 PM, or reserved via email at office@krokodil.rs.

The number of seats is limited to 35.

PROGRAM OF PALESTINIAN DAY AT THE KROKODIL CENTER:

11:00 AM – Children’s drawing workshops. The workshops are open to all ages, offering an opportunity for the youngest to creatively express themselves.

Starting at 1:00 PM, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a rich menu of authentic Palestinian cuisine, personally prepared by members of the Al Najar family:

– Maklouba with chicken or vegan option
– Tabbouleh salad
– Kanafeh and Basbousa (traditional Palestinian desserts)
– Palestinian coffee or black tea with cardamom

Prices:
Full meal: 1,500 RSD
Maklouba + Tabbouleh: 1,000 RSD
Kanafeh/Basbousa + coffee/tea: 500 RSD
Coffee/tea: 200 RSD

2:45 PM – Lecture: “Contemporary Palestinian Artists”. Senior Lecturer Dajana Ayoub will introduce us to the works of contemporary Palestinian artists.

3:45 PM – Lecture: “Palestinian Women Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”. Rana and Dina Al Najar will share their testimonies about the challenges faced by women in Palestine. These brave women, our sisters, participated in this year’s International Women’s Day march, which the Association traditionally co-organizes, where they delivered a powerful and moving speech on solidarity and the labor rights of Palestinian women. On Saturday, they will be with us at KROKODIL, answering your questions in an informal discussion.

4:00 PM – Screening of the multi-award-winning film “Omar”, directed by Hany Abu-Assad, from 2013. The film, in which a young Palestinian freedom fighter agrees to work as an informant after being tricked into confessing to the killing of an Israeli soldier, provides a glimpse into the complex and often tragic reality of modern life in Palestine.

5:30 PM“The Golden Scepter” – A literary program featuring readings of classic Palestinian folktales in Arabic and translated into our language.

Come explore Palestinian culture with us and, at the same time, help those who need it most.

See you at the KROKODIL Center!
