Conversation with Dubravka Stojanović at the XVI KROKODIL Festival

On the third day of the XVI KROKODIL Festival, within the debate zone, a conversation was held with historian Dubravka Stojanović. The focus of the discussion was her latest book “The Past is Coming”, published by Biblioteka XX vek, which deals with historical revisionism in history textbooks from the early 20th century to the present.

The conversation was originally scheduled for the main stage on the second evening of the Festival but was postponed due to rain and held on the third day instead, moderated by Daško Milinović.

During the discussion, Dubravka expressed concern about the popularity of books dealing with historical revisionism, which, in her view, reflects deeper problems in society. She particularly emphasized the significance of World War I and its interpretation over the decades, as well as the consequences of World War II, which played a crucial role in the breakup of Yugoslavia during the 1990s. Dubravka believes that the horrors of the 1990s wars are the main cause of today’s passivity among people.
