18 Jun Why Do You Say Love When You Mean War? at XVI KROKODIL Festival
The Festival edition of discussions WHY DO YOU SAY LOVE WHEN YOU MEAN WAR? will be held in the debate zone of KROKODIL Festival on Saturday at 3:30 PM. It will feature two rounds encompassing all previous topics and discussions initiated throughout Serbia over the past two years.
As before, the focus will be on analyzing hidden influences that contribute to the rise of violence, particularly those propagated within political circles that systematically legitimize extreme right-wing ideologies to bolster nationalist beliefs, especially among the youth in Serbia. The central theme will be defining and deconstructing the culture of violence and our societal contribution to it.
We will explore why young people have limited knowledge of the wars of the 1990s and recent history, and examine the influence of art and popular culture on shaping collective memory policies.
The debate will be structured into two rounds featuring historians, activists, and artists:
Round #1: Dolores Milošev Erdeg, Yasserstain, Klara Hrvanović, Pavle Cicvarić
Round #2: Smiljana Tucakov, Dubravka Stojanović, Jasminka Petrović, Tamara Marković
Moderating this event will be Milena Berić.
After each round, there will be informal discussions where the audience can engage in one-on-one conversations with the participants about these themes and related issues.
Language: the common language (BCMS)
