03 Feb Help for children and the elderly in Blyzniuky, Eastern Ukraine
KROKODIL’s team will once again, starting on March 1, travel to Kharkiv Oblast in the east of Ukraine. This time at the invitation of the Center for Social Work of the Lozova Raion in the town of Blyzniuky which has less than 4,000 inhabitants but temporarily hosts and cares for about 5,000 additional people who have fled as a result of being directly threatened by the war. Blyzniuky is one of the places that ended up located directly behind the occupation line and therefore had a large influx of people fleeing the devastation of war.
Mrs. Lidia Shuletsj, director of the Center for Social Work of the Lozova Raion, turned to us for help with collecting the most urgent necessities for babies, children and the elderly who were displaced due to the war and are temporarily housed in the Center to which the KROKODIL team will head. What they lack are the most basic things for a dignified life and adequate care.
Help us in collecting the following:
1. Diapers for babies and toddlers, sizes 3-6
2. Baby food: vegetable and fruit purees, yogurts etc.
3. Baby bottles and pacifiers, baby lotions, other items for baby hygiene
4. Adult diapers, sizes M, L, XL, blankets
5. Medicines like ibuprofen – painkillers, for high temperature
6. Shampoos, soaps, tooth pastes + brushes, things for washing
7. Canned foods: meat, vegetables, fruit
8. Warm clothes and footwear, all sizes.
The Kharkiv Oblast in the east of Ukraine has been exposed to constant war actions ever since the beginning of the Russian aggression in February last year. Large parts of this area were under direct Russian occupation during the first six months of the war, and since September, Ukraine has regained control over most of the previously occupied territories. Such war dynamics and the constant shifting of the front line resulted in a large number of refugees and displaced persons.
In the period from March to June last year, the KROKODIL association successfully implemented a humanitarian campaign aimed at helping premature babies in the Kharkiv Perinatal Center. The humanitarian campaign that we are launching now represents in a way a continuation of the one already implemented, as well as an expression of our deep conviction that the innocent victims of war should be offered unconditional help and support in order to somewhat alleviate their suffering.
After collecting a sufficient amount of necessary items, the employees of the KROKODIL Association, as in the previous humanitarian campaign, will personally deliver the aid to Blyzniuky. On that occasion, we will once again publish regular reports in the form of a travelogue.
WE INVITE EVERYONE WHO CAN TO JOIN OUR HUMANITARIAN CAMPAIGN, TO HELP AS MUCH AS THEY ARE ABLE TO AND THUS SHOW EMPATHY AND SOLIDARITY WITH INNOCENT VICTIMS OF THE WAR. DONATIONS CAN BE MADE THROUGH THE ACCOUNT (DETAILS ARE BELOW) OR IN GOODS THAT INCLUDE ONLY THE NECESSITIES MENTIONED ABOVE. YOU CAN BRING STUFF TO THE KROKODIL CENTER ON BUSINESS DAYS (MONDAY – FRIDAY) FROM 10 AM TO 6 PM (PLEASE MARK ON THE BAGS WHAT IS INSIDE, AND IF YOU ARE BRINGING CLOTHES, PLEASE BRING THEM WASHED AND IRONED).
