The opening of the exhibition by Rena Rädle and Vladan Jeremić – Metagrafika čitaonice (The Metagraphics of the Common Library) will be held on Tuesday, November 2, starting at 7 pm in the KROKODIL Center. Rena Rädle and Vladan Jeremić will present their artistic reading of the Common Library edition through a kind of hypergraphy of the following terms that correspond with the titles of the books from the edition: Egzil (exile), Društvo (society), Grad (city), Neprilagođenost (maladjustment), Mladost (youth), Antifašizam (anti-fascism), Jugoslavija (Yugoslavia), Evropa (Europe) and Identitet (identity). Hypergraphy or metagraphics is an experimental form developed by the Lettrist movement, the possibilities of which Rena and Vladan include in their arsenal of transformative tools that contribute to the potential for social change. They are trying to have it up and running despite the ongoing digital hyperproduction of images and text that creates an ubiquitous noise. In addition to the new hypergraphic pieces, Rena and Vladan will also present their earlier work Abeceda Željezare (Ironworks ABC), on the basis of which the new metagraphic intervention relies to some extent. At 7.30 pm, through the guided tour, the artists will talk about the possibilities of metagraphics and the site-specific concept of the exhibition.
Rena Rädle & Vladan Jeremić are Belgrade/Berlin based artists whose research-oriented work comprises drawing, text, video, photography, installation and artistic interventions in public space. They use techniques that are easy to reproduce and distribute such as drawing and prints and simple materials such as textile, cardboard and wood, insisting on the use value and social and ecological awareness of their artistic production. They engage with current debates and struggles in collaboration with social movements and disseminate their art works through reproduction in various media.
