23 Mar ANNOUNCING THE NAMES OF ULYSSES’ SHELTER RESIDENTS FOR 2021

As a part of the Ulysses’ Shelter project and the network of literary residencies primarily meant for young authors (of prose and/or poetry) as well as literary translators, we’ve selected three candidates from Serbia for our program of the year 2021-2022: Goran Stamenić, Katarina Mitrović and Vitomirka Trebovac.

Goran Stamenić (1990) is a translator and poet. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, the Department of Comparative Literature. He is the author of numerous short stories and essays that have been published in the magazines Rez, Poezija, Rukopisi, Glasilo CK13 and Liceulice, as well as on the masina.rs portal since 2012. Since 2014, he has been teaching creative writing to young people. His first collection of poetry, Sveti magnet, was published in 2016 by the publishing house Treći trg.

Katarina Mitrović (1991) was born in Belgrade and grew up in Obrenovac. She studied Serbian language and literature at the Faculty of Philology. She is currently a graduate student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Department of Dramaturgy. She has published two books of poetry: Utroba (Matica srpska, 2017) and Dok čekam da prođe (City Library Karlo Bijelicki, 2018), as well as a poetic novel Nemaju sve kuće dvorište (PPM Enklava, 2020). She worked as a screenwriter on two TV series – Grupa (produced by Vision Team, broadcast on RTS in the fall of 2019) and Mama i tata se igraju rada (Kombajn film and This and That Production, broadcast on RTS in October 2020). She is a co-writer of the short fiction film Onaj koji donosi kišu, directed by Isidora Veselinović and she also adapted the drama Paviljoni (Milena Marković) for a feature film, which was broadcast on RTS in 2018, directed by Dragan Nikolić. She wrote several film reviews that were published during March 2017 on the B92 website.

Vitomirka Trebovac (1980) was born in Novi Sad. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, the Department of Serbian Language and Literature. She is the author of three collections of poetry: Plavo u boji (Škart, Belgrade, 2012), Sve drveće, sva deca i svi bicikli u meni (LOM, Belgrade, 2017) and Dani punog meseca (LOM, Belgrade , 2020.) Her poems have been translated to English, German, Dutch, Slovenian, Albanian, Polish and Hungarian. In 2017, she won the BeFem Award for special artistic contribution for the anthology Ovo nije dom. She is the co-owner of the Novi Sad bookstore Bulevar Books and the coordinator of the literary festival Sofa. She is currently working as an editor at the Bulevar publishing center, and is also engaged in various art projects in Serbia and abroad.
