21 Feb Call for Publishers and Literary Festival Organizers: Meet Me in Belgrade Vol. 2 – International Publishers Meetings at the XVII KROKODIL Festival
For the second consecutive year, the KROKODIL Association is pleased to announce the Meet Me in Belgrade Fellowship. As part of the XVII KROKODIL Festival, this program aims to establish an international platform for local, regional, and international literary professionals to connect, share experiences and ideas, and initiate new projects and collaborations.
If you are a publisher, literary festival organizer, literary agent, or affiliated with a publishing house, we invite you to join us on June 27 in the Debate Zone of the KROKODIL Festival (located in the park in front of the Museum of Yugoslavia, Mihaila Mike Jankovića 6) for a full day of networking and knowledge exchange events. This will include B2B meetings featuring dynamic, brief introductions of all participants, reminiscent of a speed dating format, as well as longer one-on-one sessions. Additionally, the program will offer various side activities, including visits to local publishers and bookstores, guided tours of the city, and the Museum of Yugoslavia. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in other events within the KROKODIL Festival. This program aims to support literary professionals engaged in the publishing business and contemporary literature festivals, emphasizing the importance of networking, entrepreneurship, skills development, and creative collaboration.
Applications can be submitted through this form until June 10 at 23:59 CET.
Participation Fees:
- For applications received during February and March: €70
- For applications received during April and May: €100
- For applications received in June: €150
Note:
There is a possibility for a limited number of participants to attend the program free of charge. Selected participants will be informed about the fee waiver upon review of their applications. Selected festival organizers from Western Balkan countries can attend the program free of charge and will have travel and accommodation costs covered, with limited spots available.
KROKODIL FESTIVAL
Since its foundation in 2009, KROKODIL has organized the annual KROKODIL Literary Festival. Originally conceived as a regional affair aimed at promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and the reconstruction of broken links, particularly in the overlapping regions of the Western Balkans and Southeastern Europe, the festival has grown increasingly international. It has become one of the most distinctive and popular events in the region, exploring significant cultural, political, and social topics of the day.
Combining different formats such as readings, sofa interviews, panel discussions, workshops, press conferences, films, and other audiovisual content, KROKODIL has presented hundreds of distinguished writers, artists, and public figures from numerous countries throughout its 15 annual editions.
Notable participants include: Bernhard Schlink, Irvine Welsh, Hanif Kureishi, Margaret Atwood, László Krasznahorkai, Georgi Gospodinov, Erlend Loe, Dubravka Ugrešić, Aleksandar Hemon, Ariana Harwicz, Boris Buden, and Ivan Krastev, among many others.
The festival boasts a large, loyal, and engaged audience:
- 65,000+ visitors
- 2,500+ participants
- 115+ programs
- 25+ events in other European cities
- 350,000+ annual reach via traditional media in Southeast Europe, with a media value exceeding €500,000.
